CTV Atlantic Named Media Sponsor for the Hospice Celebrity Gala

Hospice Greater Saint John is pleased to announce that CTV Atlantic has been confirmed as the Television Media Sponsor for this year’s Hospice Celebrity Gala.  The Gala is set for Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Saint John Trade & Convention Centre.

Due to its popularity last year, the theme will once again be the Hospice Celebrity Gala.  Guests who purchase a table of 10 tickets prior to Christmas will have their names put in the draw to be selected the “Special Celebrities of the Evening!”  The chosen celebrities are given the red carpet treatment and receive special surprises.

Returning for his 11th consecutive year to MC the event is CTV’s own, Mr. Steve Murphy.  Steve was named the Honorary Capital Campaign to establish Bobby’s Hospice in 2008 and has been a strong supporter ever since.  He also had a personal experience at Bobby’s Hospice when his dad was a patient in 2013.

Also returning to this year’s event is Big Fish, a highly popular band from Halifax.

Last year, a record crowd of over 670 attended the event, now in its 33rd year.  “This event has become the premier event of the Winter Season in Saint John”, says Sandy Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer.  “It is one of our largest fundraising events with 100% of the proceeds funding care at Bobby’s Hospice.  Corporate partnerships and sponsorships like these are so critical to our success and greatly appreciated.  We are pleased to welcome CTV to our Hospice family.”

Every year, Bobby’s Hospice cares for over 170 people in the Greater Saint John area in need of in-patient palliative care and grief support.  The NB Government provides an annual grant of $766,500, leaving Hospice to raise over $1M every year to cover the remaining costs of care.

Bobby’s Hospice opened on November 1, 2010 and was the first residential hospice in Atlantic Canada.  In nearly eight years of operations, the hospice has cared for nearly 900 patients and families and served as expert consultants in the development of additional residential hospices in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.  Bobby’s Hospice is currently actively supporting the work of Hospice Halifax and the establishment of Nova Scotia’s first residential hospice.
