Board of Directors
Hospice
is governed by an independent Board of Directors, elected from the
community to serve in three-year terms. The Board is comprised of
a Chairperson, 2 Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer and four
directors. There are also two non-voting members of the Board –
the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Medical Care. The
Board of Directors is the legal authority of Hospice of Greater Saint
John, Inc. and oversees the affairs of the organization. As a
member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the
community and is responsible for effective governance, stewardship,
leadership and support of the organization.
1. Governance and Stewardship
- Confirms strategic direction, delegates authority and evaluates results.
- Reviews and authorizes plans, policies and commitments.
- Ensures compliance with legal and contract requirements.
- Monitors performance outcomes and evaluates the organization’s work against quality standards and best practices.
- Ensures dedication to, and use of assets for public benefit.
2. Leadership and Support
- Ensures the long-term financial health of the organization.
- Provides special skills and acts as ambassadors to the community.
- Ensures the Board performs effectively.

On
behalf of the Board of Directors of Hospice Greater Saint John, it is
my pleasure to welcome you to Bobby’s Hope House, home of Atlantic
Canada’s FIRST Residential Hospice.
We thank you for the
privilege of caring for you and your family at such a personal time in
your life. It is our hope that we have created an environment in which
comfort, compassion and excellent care prevail. It is also our hope
that everyone in our home experiences our commitment to peace, dignity
and respect. May all who spend time at Bobby’s Hope House experience
quality, compassionate care that celebrates life.
