Donor
Bill of Rights
At Hospice Greater Saint John, we
believe in integrity and trust. Our programs and services are available
only because public donors provide the funding needed to make them
possible. We are committed to be good stewards of your funds and your
trust; therefore, we strive to ensure that all of those who invest in
our work have full knowledge and confidence in our organization. Toward
this goal, we subscribe to the Donor Bill of Rights, developed by the
National Society of Fundraising Executives. This Bill declares that all
of our investors have the following rights.
• To be informed of our
mission, the way we intend to use donated resources and our capacity to
use donations effectively for their intended
purposes.
• To be informed of the
identity of those serving on the organization's governing board and to
expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in
its stewardship responsibilities.
• To have access to our most
recent financial statements.
• To be assured that your
gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
• To receive appropriate
acknowledgment and recognition.
• To be assured that
information about your donations is handled with respect and
confidentiality, to the extent provided by law.
• To expect that all
relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest
to the donor will be professional in nature.
• To be informed whether
those seeking donations are volunteers or employees of the Hospice, or
hired solicitors.
• To have the opportunity for
your names to be deleted from mailing lists that we may intend to share.
• To feel free to ask
questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and
forthright answers.
