Why
Volunteer?
Making a difference in the lives of
others and in our community is why people volunteer with Hospice.
That’s why people keep volunteering with us year after year.
Some of our volunteers have been with us for over 20 years. Hospice
work is very rewarding and our volunteers often tell us that they feel
that they receive more than they give. Volunteering with Hospice
enriches lives.
A large number of the people who want
to journey with the dying and the grieving do this work because they
too have experienced the death of a loved one and it has changed their
lives. Many volunteers often state their life is rich and fulfilled and
they feel the desire to “give back” to the
community.
Many of our volunteers work directly
with people and families facing end-of-life issues, but there are also
many other volunteer opportunities in Hospice other than our programs
and services – fundraising, office work, Board of Directors,
Committees, et. For more information on Hospice Volunteer
Opportunities, click here.
In addition to contributing to our
cause, Hospice recognizes that volunteers want their experience to be
rewarding. Some examples of the benefits of volunteering include:
- Making a difference in people's
lives
- Networking and friendships
- Developing skills and experience
- Ongoing education and development
- Bringing about
social/organizational change
